Waterfalls have an everlasting attraction. Here are a few favourites so far.
The Tawhai Falls at Tongariro National Park featured as Gollum's Pool in the LOTR movies here with a fresh fall of snow which doesn't seem to last that long at this altitude making getting images a bit more challenging.
The Taranaki Falls also in the Tongariro National Park which are accessed by a short hours walk from the Chateau car park.
Orokawa Falls in the Karangahake Gorge on the highway north of Waihi town down a short side trip. Very easy to get to.
The Bridal Veil Falls near Raglan on the west coast of the North Island. Many steps to get down to the base.
Tarawera Falls inland from Kawerau in the Bay of Plenty. Access is thru forestry roads and you need a permit from the visitor centre. Made unusual by the water flowing out of fissures in the rocks part way up the cliff face.
The small waterfall on Homunga Beach in the Coromandel. Reached by either a step track from the roadside or by a awesome coastal track from Waihi Beach.
The Waipunga Falls on state highway 5 between Taupo and Napier. You can view them from a viewpoint just off the highway, it's well sign posted.
Small little creek falls, un-named but still very picturesque.
